Micro technological studies, conducted by the author, have shown that a thin layer of cured binder mass between the wood particles in the chipboard is not a monolithic structure, as it was previously thought, but it is full of cavities ("bubbles"). In these cavities gas mixture with formaldehyde encapsulated. When mechanical deformation of boards (when cutting, transportation, assembly, etc.), these "bubbles" can be destroyed and of these, in addition, formaldehyde may emit.
