In this article were considered processes of emergence and spread of static electricity in a gaseous environment, as well as a classification of its major types.

Work on preservation and development of scientific, technological and innovation potentials is carried constantly in the Republic of Belarus. The system of science management is being improved, expands and strengthens the legislative and regulatory framework of scientific and innovative activities, measures are taken to increase the level of innovation production, to develop the infrastructure and companies, which are focused on new and innovative technologies [1]. Industry of the Republic of Belarus produces a variety of technical means, which include in their composition modern microelectronic products – microcontrollers, which perform management of electronic devices. Their extensive range, due to a variety of functional opportunities, gives good conditions for designing complex hardware of various purposes to the developers. At the same time, it is quite difficult to implement effective protection for microcontrollers from external influences, especially from such a destructive effect as electrostatic discharge.
